Mudah sahaja aku menasihati sang sahabat yang sedang memuncak amarahnya. Terpercik peluh nipis di pelipisnya. Dan aku yang terpinga-pinga kala diadukan kesakitannya, dengan pantas mengajaknya bersabar. Namun, seusai pengaduannya, aku berfikir...apakah sabar? apakah semudah kata-kata? Allah berfirman : "Sungguh akan dibalas upah (pahala) orang-orang yang sabar itu dengan tiada batas hitungan" Surah Azzumar ayat 10. Firman Allah lagi : "Dan siapa yang sabar dan memaafkan, maka itu termasuk amal yang sangat baik" Surah Assyuraa ayat 43. Begitu besarnya ganjaran bagi kesabaran. Lalu terfikir aku, berat sungguh menjalani sabar. Apakah sabar? nanti ku cari...

mencari pasti

Sebenar-benarnya tidak ada kepastian dalam hidup ini. Sesaat yang lalu aku ingin berkata sesuatu, sesaat seterusnya aku boleh terlupa apa yang akan kuperkatakan. Sesungguh-sungguh aku ingin menetapkan hati, sesaat boleh goyah digoncang ribut. Lalu, apa yang pasti dalam hidup ini? Mati adalah pasti. Seksa kubur adalah pasti. Syurga dan neraka adalah pasti. Wujud Allah adalah pasti.
Dalam keadaan segala serba tidak pasti, hidup mesti juga dijalani. Dan hidup bukan sebarang hidup. Hidup sebagai orang bertaqwa. menjadi orang bertaqwa, mudah diluah bibir. Menjalani hidup taqwa bagaimana?
Orang bertaqwa :

Aliff, Laam, Miim
Kitab Al-Quran ini, tidak ada sebarang syak padanya (tentang datangnya dari Allah dan tentang sempurnanya) ; ia pula menjadi petunjuk bagi orang-orang yang ( hendak) bertaqwa
Iaitu orang-orang yang beriman kepada perkara-perkara yang ghaib, dan mendirikan (mengerjakan) sembahyang serta membelanjakan (mendermakan) sebahagian dari rezqi yang Kami berikan kepada mereka.
Dan juga orang-orang yang beriman kepada kitab Al-Quran yang diturunkan kepadamu (wahai Muhammad), dan kitab-kitab yang diturunkan dahulu daripadamu, serta mereka yakin akan (adanya) hari akhirat (dengan sepenuhnya).
Mereka itulah yang tetap mendapat petunjuk dari Tuhan mereka, dan merekalah orang-orang yang berjaya...

Menjalani kehidupan adalah tugas paling berat buat manusia aku. Terpesona dengan kemanisan dunia yang sementara, tanggungjawab ukhrawi kucicir dan kucuai, sedar dan tanpa sedar. Masakan tidak, Allah berpesan di dalam QalamNya, betapa manusia yang mencintai dunia, pasti disibukkanNYA dengan urusan yang tidak berkesudahan. Lalai aku dengan hakikat manisnya dunia ini manis yang beracun, indahnya dunia ini indah yang bersalut kepuraan, cantiknya nafsu ini nafsu yang menjerumuskan aku ke murka Pencipta... sudahlah menyanyi syair dunia, hentilah menganyam impian nafsu.. Tuhanku, aku tidak layak untuk FirdausMu, namun aku tidak kuat menanggung seksa Jahim.. terimalah taubatku ya Allah, ampunilah dosa-dosaku wahai Allah yang maha Pengasih dan Penyayang..

Aku tidak tahu kenalkah aku pada diriku. Tidak tercapai rasanya tingkat Mutmainnah, jika dinilai pada laku dan gerak diri. Daif dan Fakir diri ini disisiNya. Malu jika dinilai kekejian diri dengan rahmatNya yang tidak pernah putus.
Saat aku melaungkan pada diri, aku tidak peduli pada dunia dan isinya, ammarah tetap mudah menyelubungi. Aku masih sukar menahan diri dari marah, marah yang memang biasanya manusia miliki. Namun aku enggan menerima kelemahan ini, kerana aku tahu, sebagai manusia yang tahu, aku tidak seharusnya punyai ammarah, meski bisikan jahat memujuk aku tunduk pada perasaan.
Begitulah aku, yang merasai kenal, sebenarnya masih terlalu jauh dari mengenal diriku. Lantas, kejahilan ini mungkinkah mendorong aku kearah MakrifatuLLAH ? mana mungkin? kerana tanpa kenal diriku sendiri, mustahil aku akan kenal padaNYA. Sebelum DIA aku kenali, bagaimana mengharap redhaNYA?
Lalu hiduplah aku dalam pencarian, saling tak tumpah pencarian ini seperti air yang mengalir dari punca digunung. mengalir dan mengalir, mencari lautan lepas - hidup kekal di alam abadi.

Mencari Rindu Yang Hakiki

Sesungguhnya begitu halus perasaan seorang manusia, dengan segala rencam yang rumit, berliku dan sakit dan pedih dan kadang-kadang luka. Tetapi kadang-kadang menjadi syahdu, dan puas, dan khusyuk, dan redha atas segala yang terjadi. Begitu aku merasa gerak manusiawiku, yang rumit, teraba-raba mengikut panduan yang telah tersedia. Telah ada panduan itu. Panduan Tauhid. Panduan abadi yang menjadi teras kemanusiaanku. Lalu, tauhid yang menjadi tunjang itu seharusnya terus kukuh dalam sanubari, menjadi arah, menjadi tunggak, menjadi penunjuk arah dalam kehidupanku. Tapi aku merasa rinduku ini palsu. Rinduku pada keesaanNYA hanya berlegar sekitar bibirku. bagaimana mungkin hidup mahu menjunjung ketauhidan, tetapi gerak selalu lalai dan cuai? Khusyuk hanya tinggal mimpi, Taqwa hanya tinggal idaman, rindu padaNYA tidak terterjemah pada gerak, yang seharusnya ikhlas, sesuai dengan tarafku sebagai hamba. Jika cinta, pasti rindu. Dari rindu, menjadi gerak. Gerak yang terbit dari ikhlas, adalah tunjang kehambaanku. kemarilah rindu, datang hampir padaku.

Pesan Ulama', ada tiga peringkat zuhud

Orang yang sentiasa cuba ia menolak dunia, dan mencari akhirat dengan sesungguh-sungguh hatinya. Namun begitu, sering ia merasa sukar, serasa "rugi" apabila dunia itu ditolaknya, atau dalam kata lain, masih ada teringat-ingat dunia itu dalam hatinya. Inilah peringkat zuhud yang ketiga. Tiada kecacatan dalam peringkat ini, masih ia diiktiraf sebagai zuhud.
Orang yang benci ia akan dunia ini, dan sangat kasih ia kepada akhirat. Baginya tiada keperluan untuk dunia. inilah peringkat kedua kezuhudan. Tiada kecacatan bagi peringkat ini, dan tetap ia dikenali sebagai zuhud.
Peringkat ketiga zuhud itu, sempurna disimpulkan dengan riwayat mengenai Sayyidatina Aisyah R.A : pada satu ketika Sayyidatina Aisyah menerima wang sebanyak 100 darham. lalu segera dibahagi-bahagikan kepada orang-orang miskin. Setelah habis dibahagikan wang itu, berkata lah pembantunya, mengapakah tidak Puan ambil sedikit wang itu untuk membeli daging buat berbuka puasa kelak?, maka jawab Sayyidatina Aisyah RA, sesungguhnya aku terlupa, jika kuingat tadi, nescaya kuambil sedikit buat membeli daging yang kau katakan.... maka inilah peringkat zuhud yang paling sempurna.

semoga ALLAH ampunkan aku jika ada kesalahan dalam penceritaan ku tadi, aku sekadar ingin mengingatkan diriku agar tetap dalam jalan ini.

A Cabinet without Khairy, what next?

I waited in much anticipation of the new line-up of Malaysian Cabinet last Wednesday. When it was finally announced, i took a deep breath and can't stop myself from asking. What next for Malaysia?. There are several more questions that i wish not be revealed, considering the sensitiveness of my position as a government servant, but let's ponder upon several more "watered-down" curiosity of mine..
1. By excluding KJ in his cabinet, does the PM concur to all the perceptions ( substantiated or not ) levelled unfairly against KJ? if he does, then why accept the prime minister's position when he himself is accused with so many false allegations? ironic? welcome to Malaysia... The PM knows that false accusations are merely that... FALSE.. so why do you show the rakyat that you make decisions based on perception?
2. the PM mentioned oh-so-sweetly, that the cabinet is the rakyat's candy. if so, why exclude KJ but appoint Mukhriz? Can someone please enlighten me, as when does Mukhriz ever show that he has rakyat in his heart? Can someone convince me, how come MCA and MIC still maintain their ministership quota when they were clearly rejected by the rakyat in 2008 GE? so, really, rakyat's cabinet? get a life man!
3. the PM said in a straight face that KJ accepted his decision, and will work towards strengthening the party. But my dear PM, how do you expect Kj to re-unite PEMUDA, when you yourself showed clearly that you do not favour him ? of course KJ will not retaliate! of course he'll accept your decision, he is a man of principle. Not a person who goes around selling himself as a fighter, but never fought a cause his whole life (recognise that person?)

dear little brother, you may wonder why out of nowhere I decided to dedicate a posting for you. Actually, it does not come from nowhere Bud, it comes from my heart. I have been wanting to tell you a little secret, but i keep hesitating. and my hesitation has taken tens of years.

dear little brother, i want you to know that i am blessed with having YOU as my brother. You are the best little brother anybody would ever want. remember how we went to school together way back in 1984? we rode on a bicycle, you pillion. That moment was etched in my memory, and it will remain there forever. remember also when we had our usual fights? I threw a slipper to your back and you cried. do you remember little brother, when we shared our dirty little secret behind a boulder in Bapak's lombong in Simpang balak? hehehe, i bet you do!

dear little brother, when i went to boarding school, we started to drift apart. but do you know that i always talk about you, in concealed pride? you know, i never failed to point out to anyone who would listen that i have a brother who is a "tokoh Pelajar"? when we became older, your qualities began to surface. you remember telling me, why Bapak seemed to be putting so much pressure on you to do well?. i don't know Bud, i cannot answer on behalf of him. but i do know one thing, it was because i always see you as "the Brain" amongst us. and you did well. again, everybody who knows me will know how many "A's" you got for your SPM. i was so proud of you my brother, and i still am.

Bud, why was it so difficult for me to tell you? it's just three words, so simple, yet so difficult. it took me 32 years of my life (and that's how long you have been in this world) to finally be able to muster the courage to tell you. I am so sorry for my ego, and i wonder, why it took me so long.

PESAN BUYA HAMKA

Pada hari Ahad yang lalu, aku diizinkan ALLAH SWT menziarahi rumah kelahiran Almarhum Haji Abdul Malik Karim Amrullah, atau lebih kita kenali dengan panggilan HAMKA. Jelas aura nya berbeza, penuh kesyahduan mendengar hidupnya diriwayatkan sendiri oleh murid yang juga anak saudaranya Hanif Rasyid S.Pdi. Menelusuri jejak-jejak hidupnya, tergetus betapa jauhnya lagi perjalanan aku sendiri dalam mencari jalan menemui keikhlasan, hingga akhirnya aku nanti diizinkan kembali menemuiNYA.
Empat pesanan HAMKA, untuk jadi ingatan ku :

Siapakah orang yang pintar itu ? Orang pintar adalah orang yang merasa bodoh sehingga tidak berhenti membaca dan belajar.
Orang yang dapat berhubungan dengan yang Maha Suci ALLAH adalah orang yang selalu mensucikan diri. Justeru itu aku harus bertaubat dahulu sebelum berdoa, supaya dengannya aku dapat berhubung dengan ALLAH, dan semoga doaku itu dikabulkan.
Orang yang berbahagia adalah orang yang merintis kehidupannya menuju kampung halamannya. Dan dimanakah kampung halaman ku? Itulah Syurga kurniaan ALLAH.
Ketika rumahku diketuk oleh kemiskinan, aku buka jendela dan aku lompat keluar. Apakah kemiskinan itu? Kemiskinan Ilmu, Kemiskinan Iman, Kemiskinan Akhlak, dan Kemiskinan Harta

Pak Hanif lalu mengakhiri pertemuan kami dengan sebuah cerita;

Seekor anjing pemburuan kuat sekali kesetiaannya pada tuannya. Meskipun sedang menghadap makanan yang enak, jika dipanggil tuannya, terus ia lari menuju tuannya dan meninggalkan apa yang sedang dilakukannya. Sedang manusia, waktu leka ia dengan urusan keduniaannya, bila dilaungkan azan, tanda panggilan untuk menghadap TUHANnya, tidakkah terlintas dihatinya untuk menyahut seruan itu? Maka dimanakah letaknya diri manusia yang lalai jika dibanding anjing yang tidak berakal itu?

Mencari INSAN dalam kemanusiaanku

Tidak mudah membina mahmudah dalam diri yang diselaputi mazmumah. Aku yang berterusan lalai kepada ALLAH SWT, tetapi tidak malu memohon rahmatNYA. Aku yang berterusan rindu pada duniawi, tanpa aib meminta syurgaNYA. Aku yang melafaz kasih pada manusia, tidak segan merayu belasNYA.

Sukar sekali meraup ikhlas dalam gerak dan desah nafas ku. Maka sengaja aku lupa akan firmanNYA, "maka nikmat AKU yang mana lagikah yang hendak kamu dustakan?". begitulah aku yang hamba, merasa tuan. justeru aku yang kerdil merasa besar, diri yang longgar merasa angkuh, jiwa yang rapuh merasa ampuh, hati yang lalai merasa teguh.

Begitu aku manusia gembel, terlalu jauh dari menjadi INSAN. Aku masih lagi mencari beda, antara kemanusiaan ku dan kebinatanganku, antara kemuliaan ku dan kehinaanku, antara kebersihan ku dan kekotoran ku.

Janganlah aku sesat dan alpa dalam pencarian ini, ALLAH...

KINABATANGAN - foolishness at its best

i was so amused watching a 5 star performance last night. it was a debate session where MP for kinabatangan (again) tried to show off his oratory skills. i wouldn't want to deny his imposing figure and marvellous body-language which showed his ability in making a speech. but alas, at the end of the day people judge you by what you say...
the honourable MP tried reasoning the implementation of PPSMI. good. it's your right. but at least you should have a strong point that will not finally portray you like a stupid clown. How stupid!
he argued that most of the policy detractors are themselves well educated overseas, thus ceased to have the right to reject the policy.... huh? oh my god, what a stupid argument. missing the point there mr.MP.....
Dear Kinabatangan, just do whatever you do best lah. don't try other people's forte. you just do and say things that you do best - hurling expletives to the opposition. that's your worth.

FINALLY, HISHAM SPEAKS!

UMNO youth much celebrated chief has finally arisen and came out with a statement regarding the teaching of mathematics and science in English. To my dismay, he did not address the disillusionment of many in Malaysia, the failure of the policy, and its disastrous effect to malay children.. How convenient. instead of coming out with a well informed, much calculated decision ( of course, after thousands of round table and not-so-round table discussions!) Dato' Hisham merely lashed out to the policy's detractors. instead of deciding to abolish the policy- or to uphold it- dato' hisham meekly tried to degrade those who fight for bahasa Melayu's supremacy in the country. my oh my, such a pathetic display of mediocrity!.

Dear dato', i do not claim to be excellent in English, but my ability to converse and write in the language has nothing to do with the medium of instructions way back when i was studying in SMK SG BESAR, a rural school. i was fortunate to have such a good English teacher that i can't thank her enough. i was also fortunate to have access to english newspapers and novels, thus enabling me to master the language, enough to earn a living teaching the language to others. Dato', i know you can't even begin to understand the fuss about all this. how could you, when the first word you uttered when you were a baby was in english! how could you empathize with millions of common-folks, when you yourself express yourself better in english than in malay!

dato', i beg you to listen to the people's voice, this once. i cannot allow you to listen to your conscience, as your conscience is definitely distorted, not by your fault, but because your core self is so distant from us, lay man. please listen dato', listen carefully to rakyat. those around you won't tell you the truth! they are busy calculating their next leap, in parallel with your jump to vice presidency. the government servants around you won't tell you the truth either. they are busy planning their next vacation abroad, providing they keep their mouth shut and say yes to whatever you say!

Dato', i got a 6c in my mathematics and 7 for physics...and i learned them in bahasa Melayu. imagine if the subjects were taught in english when i was in school!!

If Barisan Nasional succeeds in wresting power, then the "balance of power" would be as such :

Muslim assemblymen : 27 UMNO + 2 independent

Non-Muslim : 1 Gerakan + 1 independent

If Pakatan Rakyat remains in power, the balance ( before the "mutiny")

Muslim assemblymen : 9 ( PAS + PKR)

Non-Muslim : 22 ( DAP + PKR)

Khairy Proved His Mettle

I watched KJ in astro bernamaTV last night. excellent performance. True to my personal expectations, KJ spoke flawlessly, answered intelligently with wits and strength no other PEMUDA contender would ever dream to achieve. I observe faces of the audience, young men and women, mature persons, and forgive me if i can't help myself from concluding that they were awed by KJ's sterling performance.
They asked questions, and when he answered their faces looked like as if they were given a thousand dollars without any strings attached! so, would you still wonder why KJ is considered "The" leader in the making for tomorrow's Malaysia?
Several answers caught my attention :

When asked what issue is close to his heart, he replied "education". which i believe is true. you see whenever KJ speaks about education, he speaks with passion and knowledge. Mind you, he is one of the first UMNO leader who dared questioning the PPSMI policy which unfortunately is a very damning policy
When asked what is he championing as a PEMUDA leader, he replied that: To make sure that every Malaysian is able to achieve his or her potential... a simple but very strong word.

i believe KJ is a sincere person, caught in a very difficult position simply because he is the son in law of Pak Lah. come on, think hard man, look deep into your inner conscience. why do you hate KJ so much? i mean, if you are really sincere, you would admit that all these while you are hating him without much real reason. Getting to where he is now because he is the son in law of Pak Lah? take a good look at Kit Siang-Guan Eng, Karpal-Gobind, Hussien-Hishamudin, Najib-TunRazak, Mukhriz-Mahathir.... the list is endless lah! getting rich because of his connections? Aiyahh! please lah....

Let's look at KJ with a more positive perspective, man... He may be not the kind of hand-shaking sweet-mouthed politician you would like him to be. heck, he's not a PAS. But really, would you prefer people like Pasir salak or Kinabatangan to be the leader of your children?

Taqwa dalam cinta

Benarkah cinta? benarkah cinta yang telah 12 tahun aku semaikan ini? benarkah aku telah melangsaikan tanggungjawab cintaku pada isteri yang tetap disisi sepanjang alam perkongsian ini? 12 tahun yang lalu, aku melafazkan kecintaan ku pada si dia, lalu dia redha, lalu aku berjanji, dan dia lalu menerima dan memegang janjiku. seusai akad aku lafazkan, maka dia menjadi isteri dan kekasih, teman dan penghibur, perindu dan pemujuk, peramal emosiku dan pengubat resahku. Dan aku jadi suami dan kekasih, pelindung dan pemberi, juga lelaki yang menanggung janji.

lalu dalam muhasabah lelaki suami yang daif ini, aku menilai janji-janji cinta yang aku lafazkan sewaktu cinta masih muda dan penuh menyelubungi seluruh diri...lalu aku bertanya padaku,

3. isteri yang redha akan gembira dengan rezeki yang dibawa pulang suaminya. justeru wajarkah jika aku sekadar menjinjit sebungkus kuih tanpa usaha keras memikul seguni beras?

4. isteri yang redha akan tenang bernaung di pondok usang demi suaminya. tetapi bukankah Taj Mahal yang aku janjikan? maka bukankah janji itu janji cinta yang sewajibnya aku tunaikan?

isteri yang redha adalah isteri solehah. isteri yang redha akan menerima kelemahan suaminya. tetapi suami yang Taqwa adalah suami yang tidak redha mengizinkan isterinya hidup bercalar duri. suami yang taqwa tidak redha isterinya menangis kerana kelemahan suami. suami yang taqwa adalah suami yang tidak redha melihat isterinya menguburkan janji-janji suaminya yang tidak tertunai....

Aku ingin jadi suami dan kekasih, pelindung dan pemberi, dan pencinta yang menunaikan janji...

PAS Dilemma, to be or not to be

Pas' gain in the previous general election was so overwhelming, that even the most hardcore of Pas supporters finally gave in to their leaders' logic of co-operating with DAP. i was surprised, you would be surprised too, if you had the chance to talk to some of these hardcore supporters nowadays. imagine a person who treat their own muslim brothers in UMNO as infidels, now proudly displays affection to DAP, the real enemy of us muslims. imagine a person who would never want to reason any muzakarah with UMNO, now proudly brags his "sacrifices" to guarantee the fall of his muslim brothers in Penang to the hand of DAP.
and i have a problem here. small to you political pundits who boast tactical wisdom (duh), but big to me, a concerned muslim. it's big, when in front of my eyes i see my religion (and thus my race) are being insulted and disrespected. it's big, when my own party,PAS, embrace the real enemy of my religion. my own party, the very party that has its members swear to protect and uphold the sanctity of Islam, come what may.
yes, political wisdom, tactical move, you may say. but political gain with Islam left bruised and insulted? i don't think so.
now, my leaders need to stand firm and decide..
1. stay with DAP, get political powers, tolerate their insult, give in, live happily ever after
2. leave DAP, lose some states, stand tall and proud in defending Islam, live happily in the afterlife

up to you lah! you are all ulama'. and i am only a distant voice who need not be counted. but, i tell you one thing, put your trust where or to whom it belongs. do read Lim Kit Siang's "Timebomb in Malaysia" - a collection of his speeches way back in 1969. read, and understand who he was, is, and will be.

Malay Unity what?

Much have been said about malay unity. to different people malay unity means differently. to you malay unity might mean no more political bickering amongst malays. to me malay unity might be just that, malays united in a single platform. but alas, the phrase remains as that, a phrase. unfortunately for those who are really in the mainstream of malay political power though, malay unity is oft-defined solely to satisfy their own interests!

For UMNO, malay unity can only be achieved by disbanding all other malay-based political parties and join them.
For Pas, malay unity is impossible until and unless all other malay political parties subscribe to its brand of Islam, and accept their interpretation of Islamic governance.
For PKR though, malay unity can only be achieved when malays work together with other races, with the malays being the core of the nation..when the malays are made to compete equally with the other races, naturally malay unity will stand...

i don't know. i mean, if, in order for us malays to unite we have to practise a uniparty system, then whose party, or which party do we choose? everybody will feel and think that their party is the sole party that deserve to remain. then, let's say in the very unlikely event that all malay political parties were to agree to merge, which will be the core party? who's going to be made the president, with sincere wholehearted support from everybody?

i say,

let's let the current system remains. but when it comes to things that call for a strong single voice, malay voice, let's unite. let's strengthen our brotherhood, by being together when malay rights are being challenged . let's not remain quiet when our partners insult us, unite, and tell them off straight to their face. i mean, why are we so apologetic when we actually should be proud to show them who's the boss!

I wish to offer my sincerest condolences to the family of ALLAHyarham Datuk Razali Ismail, our deputy education minister. May ALLAH bless him with forgiveness and rahmah.
His appointment as deputy minister was seen by us in the ministry as a light at the end of a dusty and dark tunnel of education. his background as an educationist has made it possible for him to fully appreciate every nook and crannies of our education jungle. too many opportunistic politicians -who had not any inkling of what education is all about- had dipped their dirty hands into the future of our children. thus his appointment had at least rejuvenated our hope which had dimmed all these while.
Of course, his very short time in ministry might not make it possible for him to make a very strong impression on all of us. however, those who had had the chance to work with him said that he was a very hardworking man, and his experiences as an educationist had made it possible for him to really understand the game. Alas, man can only propose, but God disposes.
"Kullu nafsin zaa iqatul maut". May ALLAH bless him. semoga ALLAH menempat ALLAHyarham bersama orang-orang yang di beri petunjuk dan hidayah.

Mencari ikhlasnya aku

ikhlas itu seperti seekor semut hitam di atas batu hitam di malam yang gelap gelita.. itu sebaris bicara yang pernah kubaca. lalu, jika sebegitu sukarnya mencari keikhlasan dari sudut takrifnya, pasti mencari ikhlas dalam diriku ini lebih sukar lagi. ikhlas kah aku? dalam menjalani perjalanan dan ujian ini? adakah aku ikhlas jika :-

serentak tangan kananku menghulur sedekah ke tangan kecil anak-anak yang meminta, serentak hati berdetik betapa mereka ini dipergunakan oleh si dewasa yang keji?
rapat bahu ku menghimpit teman jemaah, tetapi jauh hati ku dari silaturrahim mereka?
senyum aku pada jiran yang menyapa, tetapi jengkil jiwaku pada kucingnya yang mengotori laman ku?
ramah bicaraku pada rakan yang menegur, tapi dingin sukma ku pada dirinya?
tekun langkahku mengais rezeki, tapi lemah tanganku pada amanah?
ku beri ihsan dan kasih pada isteri yang bernaung pada ku, tetapi ku kurung redha pada kelemahan-kelemahannya?

Hikayat Raja Mati di Tikam

Syahdan, maka tersebutlah kisah seorang Raja Perempuan, konon cerita di negeri Kota Kuala, kini tiada lagi dimuka bumi, hilang ditelan belantara jua adanya.

Maka sebermula adalah seorang Raja Perempuan, Tuanku Bayan jua namanya. Arakian demikian namanya kerana ternyatalah amat bijak laksana ia, di kala semua orang perempuan di negeri itu tiadalah tahu akan mengaji, telah Raja itu pandai bersyair dan gurindam, hingga leka segala rakyat jelata, melihat akan bijaknya Raja itu berpantun seloka. Maka akan kata-kata yang keluar dari mulutnya itu, umpama azimatlah pada negeri, kerana tumpu juga segala dagang senteri dari negeri atas dan bawah angin datang berdagang dan bersenda bermain-main ke negeri Kota Kuala itu.

sekonyong-konyong telah 33 tahun bertakhta akan Raja Perempuan itu, datanglah janji ALLAH Subhanahu Wa Taala, maka dilanggar Geroda akan negeri Kota Kuala. Maka habis carik dan koyaklah negeri, luka-luka dan tumpahlah darah sekelian rakyat. maka dicubalah oleh Raja perempuan berseloka sebaik-baik dan selembut-lembut suaranya akan memujuk Geroda yang datang, mohon jangan dibinasa negeri Kota Kuala yang penuh sakti itu. Maka oleh Geroda itu tiadalah dipedulikan akan Raja Perempuan itu, dibakarnya habis segala hamba rakyat.

Maka sedang merah menyala Kota Kuala, sayup-sayup terdengar akan gendang bertalu dipukul juak-juak istana. Maka dicelah gendang keluarlah suara begitu merdunya syair seloka, gegak gempita permainan tarinya. syahdan tercenganglah hamba rakyat, mencari siapa gerangan suara yang syahdu, hingga terhenti ganas Geroda.

Syahdan memandanglah Raja Perempuan, mencari siapa gerangan suara yang kerananya terhenti langgar Geroda yang zalim itu. Arakian di titah Raja Perempuan akan bendahara agar dipanggil menghadap siapa gerangan suara. Maka sekonyong-konyong muncul jua gerangan si penyair, akan diperkenal namanya Sang Puteri Ayu Laksana, maka berbisik-bisiklah akan hamba rakyat, betapa jelitanya bagai anak dewata dari kayangan lakunya... maka pipi bagai pauh dilayang, betis bagai bunting padi, bila minum nampak berbayang, suara bagai buluh perindu.

Maka syahdan timbullah iri di hati Raja Perempuan, akan Puteri Ayu Laksana itu dilihat rakyat hingga tercengang-cenganglah hamba rakyat. maka yang buta datanglah berpimpin, yang sopak terkesot-kesot, yang pekak tertanya-tanya, datang sekeliannya hendak melihat sang Puteri. Arakian dikhabarkan orang, timbullah amarah akan Raja Perempuan itu, maka dibalingnya lembing akan membunuh sang Puteri itu. Maka bisik hatinya matilah Puteri ini dengan lembingku. Maka tidaklah ditahunya akan sang Puteri itu penuh jua hikmat dan saktinya. maka ditepis akan puteri lembing itu, maka berpencaklah dia, maka di kisar-kisar akan kerisnya, maka sekelip mata maka di tikamnya akan Raja Perempuan itu.

Maka meraunglah Raja perempuan akan bisanya keris Ganja Serampai Tari, di tapa sang Puteri tujuh purnama di Tasik Kuala jua adanya. Maka terpancutlah akan darah putih sang Raja, maka gemparlah sekelian rakyat hina-dina.

Maka timbullah Murka ALLAH SWT akan berbalah dua Raja oleh merebut takhta Kota Kuala.

Maka sekonyong-konyong timbullah taufan maha dahsyat, habis ditelan segala negeri dan hamba rakyat, sedikit jua tiada berbekas. Maka dikhabarkan orang tua-tua tempat Kota Kuala itu hingga kini tiadalah mahu tumbuh akan pohon mengkudu kerana sumpah Raja.

Maka demikianlah hikayat Raja Perempuan Mati di Tikam, diceritakan orang tua-tua buat jadi renungan hamba rakyat, agar jangan bergaduh kerana takhta.

UMNO deputy presidentship - a critical musings

And so it was confirmed.. it would be a three cornered fight for our nation's most important political party's deputy presidentship. like million others, i don't have the privilege of personally knowing who the three of them really are, albeit they being among the most popular candidate in UMNO. so, naturally my opinion won't necessarily be shared by UMNO delegates.
but saudara, being opinionated i will. like million other malaysians , i need to say my piece. i really want to, nevermind if what is being said matters not an iota to the people that matters...

Muhyiddin seems to be the most popular of the three. He is indeed very well qualified to fill the post. being the most senior vice president of UMNO, he has also served in various capacities in the cabinet. and as many of his supporters point out, he is the only member of parliament in the race, thus to certain extent, the post should naturally go to him. the other two are not MP. I do agree to this line of argument. however, i also want to take Najib and PakLah's insistence of wanting a "clean" candidate seriously... so, i wonder, is Muhyidin clean? didn't he once upon a time been tainted with accusation of money-politics? and didn't the accusation almost cost him his vice presidency? i don't know, i really don't have a very strong memory. but if he prevail at the end of this race, i sincerely hope he eats more tempe, you know, just to brighten up his face.. sorry Tan Sri, a deputy prime minister must not only be handsome, but he must also look handsome...
Tan Sri Muhammad or Mike is another contender. if this were a boxing match, i'll put my money on him. I mean, he once married a princess! where else can you find such a confident man! and yes, he is tall, handsome, and eats a lot of tempe too...
on a more serious note, Mike has a lot of experiences in politics. God! is he loyal! He braved storms, swam fiery waters, and even once expunged into political wilderness. but there he was, steadfastly holding to his principle. being loyal pays, for him.. well, i don't really know how Najib will settle the problem of Mike not being an MP if he is chosen, but settle it he must. Najib is a smart man, that's why he is the PM-in-waiting, and not me...
as for Dato' Ali Rustam.. i don't have any comment. i don't know much about him, because i don't read much about him. and his name is too short.
Good luck to all of them, but if you really need to know my personal choice, i say, the PM should be Haji Hadi, and the deputy Haji Husam..

Semoga ibadah yang penuh kepayahan ini kau harungi dengan ikhlas dan azam yang padu. Semoga ALLAH menerimamu dengan rahmat dan keberkatan. Semoga tiap injakan kaki mu diberi ganjaran oleh ALLAH SWT. Malays: two steps to checkmate

I have once told my friends, and everyone who cares to listen : No party politics are going to fight for Malay survival anymore. No more! none!
Barisan Nasional with UMNO as the backbone is too busy accomodating the non-malays demands, all their whims and fancies, to the expense of their long held belief that the Malay survival is the pillar of Malaysian unity. UMNO is now almost embarrassed to fight for the Malays. They nod to all the non-Malays demands, and they pacify their restless Malay supporters with pathetic promises. MCA and Gerakan, despite their bad performance in the GE suddenly become so chauvinistic,worse than DAP. they blatantly disregard Malay sensitivities, veiled thinly under the pretext of doing a "post-mortem"...and what did UMNO do? they do nothing...empty warnings! hollow reprimand!
and the Pakatan Rakyat?
Listen to Selangor MB...Ladang Babi?, Revise the Malay quota in NEP?, The appointment of a non-Malay to PKNS? to hell with merit! DAP shouts meritocracy all day and nights, but really? you want merit? YOU name ONE single Malay helming a chinese company! You tell me, how many Malays hold decision-making positions in a chinese company! we don't need to go far, look at supermarkets all over Malaysia...who are the store boys? who are the cashiers? and then, you look carefully, who are their supervisors? who are their line-leaders? stop denying man! a malay boy with SPM applying for a job in supermarket will definitely be accepted as a general worker. whilst a non-Malay with the same SPM? he'll be supervising this Malay boy!
don't get me wrong, it's your company - do whatever you like! ditto PKNS, it's an agency to uplift Malay economic standings...so why do you need to appoint a chinese there?

RAYUAN TERBUKA BUAT IBU...

Hati dan perasaan aku jadi tak keruan...Pening memikirkan betapa terdesaknya sesetengah manusia yang tersepit. pendeknya akal, dek takutkan stigma masyarakat yang pantas sangat menghukum...

dalam seminggu, dua bayi ditemui mati dalam keadaan menyedihkan. tali pusat masih bersama.

aku cuba mengerti keperitan ibu bayi tersebut... ibu sudah terlanjur. tiada jalan keluar. kenikmatan yang membawa derita... penghinaan masyarakat bakal menghimpit.. sang bapa yang buas menghilang..tiada "support system" yang reliable dalam masyarakat Melayu khasnya untuk ibu-ibu begini...

maka bayi yang suci terdampar dihurung semut..

andai saja mereka mengerti, betapa sukarnya orang yang tak putus-putus berdoa diberikan anak-anak seperti aku, pasti mereka tidak tergamak melakukan perbuatan hina itu.

So shahrukh is going to be made a Dato'. Now you really are sure, just how far a man's or in this case a leader's stupidity can go. I strongly believe that to call Tun Daim, Ali Rustam and Tun Khalil as obtuse is an understatement... I mean, what other name can you call them? what else?
Heck, even my ketua kampung is far more qualified than that actor!
I apologize to my readers, i can't contain my disgust anymore. i have tried my best to not carry expletives in any of my postings, but this is really off-limits man!. giving Datokship to shahrukh? hell, they might one day suggest a Tan Sri for Hugh Heffner! Muhammad Muhammad Taib : The Phoenix

Out of nowhere, Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib (Mike) announced his intention to bid for the second highest office in UMNO. To many, it is a surprise. To me, it is a pleasant surprise. Many would likely be cynical to my saying this time around...how could I? Mike is an UMNOman through and through. and maybe some would be quick to point Mike as a political past tense..

ladies and gentlemen, Mike is not your common politician. even though i'm not on the same side as him in politics, i admire him a lot. To me, he is a politician with substance. I was quite happy - to ignore politics - when he was at the helm of Selangor. he worked hard. "Yeah!, he's hardly clean too!!", you may argue. Agree, but, as i say he worked hard, for the state. ( as for working hard for his own benefit, i will not say anything, which MB doesn't?).

too many accusations hurled towards too many politicians already lah! most were never substantiated with proof. I agree, some really do involve themselves with bad things...but for those worth our support, or worth some compliments, bagilah what's due or worth for them.

Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib is the current Rural and Regional Development Minister in the Malaysian federal cabinet. He is also the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) information chief and former Menteri Besar of Selangor.
Born in Kampung Sungai Manggis, Kuala Kalumpang, Hulu Selangor, Muhammad is a graduate from Universiti Malaya and was also a former teacher in SMK Kuala Kubu Baru. The political veteran joined UMNO in 1964, and quickly rose within its ranks to be elected UMNO vice president in 2004. He was also appointed as Selangor Umno deputy state liaison committee chief in the same year.
Muhammad was also former Batang Kali state assemblyman, winning in the general elections of 1982, 1986, 1990 and 1995. He served as Menteri Besar of Selangor from 1986 to 1997.

and i would like to add, compared to AnwarIbrahim and Pak Lah, Mike graduated form university with a first class degree....
I wish him all the luck for the coming UMNO election.

My view :

Tuan Guru is the most misunderstood person in Malaysia. The fact that his academic credentials are better compared to our other contenders has been clouded by his past aggresiveness. I believe no one has ever dream that the Pakatan rakyat would be able to materialise during his tenure as PAS president, as opposed to during Dato'Fadzil Noor's at the helm. Surprisingly, it is indeed during his presidency, the opposition alliance managed to finally be in a real position to deny the Barisan Nasional an undisputed power.

Tuan Guru is a fighter through and through. He has endured wins and losses, yet he remains true to his calling. Good luck to him.

Dato' Seri is Malaysia's fifth Prime Minister. His taking over of the post from Tun Mahathir was very much anticipated, as he represents a different political approach as compared to Tun. Indeed, he is always seen as a clean politician. His government is praised as a government committed to observation of the Rule of Law, and to a certain extent, his government did deliver.

Dato' seri is now facing a political tempest. From enemy within, nevertheless. I wish him all the best.

He is indeed influential, so influential that it is not an overstatement if I humbly suggest that Datuk Seri actually "writes" Malaysian political history.

Datuk Seri is also facing his own personal storm. I hope he wins his war.

Assalamualaikun WBT,
i have been blessed with the blessing of Aidilfitri 35 times, on the last count. this time around, aidilfitri will be here just several days after my 36th birthday, and several days after my wife's 33rd. we have lived a lively life so far. Allah is great. when we started our life together (that was 12 years ago), we looked at the future in anxiety (in capital A). i was a very junior teacher, with meagre salary, and during that time, i had just enrolled in University - with a halfpay salary.
but we survived.
my life was never a complete misery, nor was it a complete heaven. but we were contented, with our life, and with what we had to endure in those survival jungle.
looking back, i wouldn't want to have my life in any other way. this is my life, our life, and i am truly grateful with what Allah has blessed us with. Aidilfitri has always been a day of reflection for me, and this time is no exception.
Allah memberi rezeki kepadaku bukan dalam bentuk kekayaan harta dan wang ringgit. Juga Allah tidak memberiku anak-anak untuk dipeluk dan disayangi. tetapi Allah menganugerahkan aku yang kerdil ini dengan nikmat Islam, dan Kesedaran . Allah meredhakan aku bernafas. Allah memberikan aku pasangan yang istimewa. Allah memberikan aku nikmat kasih sayang dari ramai manusia - ibu bapaku, ibu mertuaku, adik beradikku, anak-anak saudaraku yang comel-conel belaka. it's obvious! he's playing a highly complicated mind game. future political analyst might want to call him a Master Strategist. Motivational speakers would love to pronounce the success of their Law of Attraction, Power of Subconscious Mind, and The Secrets...

At the other side of the shilling, enemies will definitely create fresher and harsher expletives - specifically referred to Anwar, when one day the expletives find their entry to Collin Cobuilds or Oxford dictionaries. How else would you explain the commonness of "Liwat" nowadays? i tell you guys, i've been a teacher for 15 years, and never did i encounter students who very casually (and with deep understanding) mentioned the words "Sodomy" and "Liwat" until after that fateful 1998!!.

be it as it may, back to my nagging...

You see, Anwar is the master. He shapes malaysian political landscape - post 1998. Of course he came prepared. He never fails to attract attention since his student days. He is malaysia's James Dean of sort to the youth's eyes. He fulfils the ideals of youth who subscribe to anti-establishments. To young people of Malaysia, Anwar represents them. Anwar is still the angry young man. Even when he was in the government, young people still relate to him. I mean, compare him to let's say.... Shabery Cheeky, or Hamid Albar, or better compare him to Yang Amat Berhormat Ketua Pemuda UMNO Malaysia Dato' Seri Hishamudin Tun Hussien Onn!.

To the elders, Anwar is Malaysia's Jose Rizal. He is also Malaysia's Muhammad Abduh. He is Ghandi. He is also Sun Yat sen. Of course he is not actually of that very high stature yet, but at least, he seems to portray some of the qualities equated to the big names...

Now, do you still wonder why it is he who finally managed to bring PAS and DAP ( like bringing ultraman and the monster together) together? why Ku Li failed? Why Onn Jaafar failed? Need I still wonder why PAS seems to be infatuated with love to Anwar?

the much awaited sept 16th is here. for the uninitiated, it's Malaysia day. for Malaysian political animal, it's "the Day". it's the day ,awaited with short and sharp breath by the ruling coalition, in anticipation of the unknowns....it is also the day where one man's credibility is at stake.

my travel to putrajaya seems mysteriously mystery... cars seem to be less, the clouds seem heavy, heavier than they normally would, at this time of the year. the office block seems dull, duller than it normally is. people walk about in short quick pace, talking or more accurately whispering in a hush hush tone.

the atmosphere is somewhat different. business is not as usual. people talk ,and walk, and smile but they do them differently. the net is unusually slow, the traffic is heavy. winds come in all direction, words of mouth become the gospel truth.

no one single story is reliable, but no one single story is unreliable either.

will this be the day? will it be the change much awaited?

What is TRUTH ?

it amuses me a lot when i observe how people choose who to like, who to love, who to idolize. ditto when they ( we ) decide who to hate, loathe and feel disgusted to..

you see, we human race have this thing that we call selective memory. we choose what to remember, we choose what to forget. prior to that, we filter all the information that come our way. this filtering process will then determine what we decide to accept, or reject... when we accept it, we remember. when we don't, we forget.

remember our friends in primary school ?

after 20-30 years into adulthood, we still remember some of them, but we do forget some...

i don't know about you, but i often have this guilty feeling, about old friends whom i chose twenty-thirty years ago to hate... you see, we grew, went our separate ways, me - always looking at him as someone who "will never make it!", and he, always thinking of me as a pest to society... surprise surprise, after all this while, he actually turned out well, very well indeed, and i never come close to becoming a gangster either!

you see, my point is this : when you hate someone, you turn a blind eye to his quality

likewise, when you love someone so much, you can never see his evil...

dear friends, i know it's hard to swallow the truth. especially when the truth remains unknown.

i wish to sincerely congratulate Pak Lah on his continuous war against graft and bribery. i know, many would argue that what he has done so far is still not enough. but, to be fair to him, staging a war against something so rampant as graft is not easy. especially when you are alone. moreover if those who you hope would help you desert you. worse when not only they don't help you, they BLAME you...
pity Pak Lah. everybody blames him. but come to think of it, critically, does he really deserve to be blamed?
1. Tun blames him for the poor performance of BN in PRU12. : WHAT DID ALL HIS CABINET MINISTERS DO?
2. UMNO members blame him for the low-image they are suffering : WHAT DO THEY DO TO HELP STRENGTHEN UMNO'S IMAGE? WHY DO THEY POINT THEIR FINGER TO HIM, WHEN THEY THEMSELVES NEVER REALLY DO ANYTHING (other than securing government contracts)?
3. People blame him for the so-called slow economic performance : SO, WHERE GOES ALL HIS CADRES OF ECONOMIC ADVISORS? WHERE'S NOR YAKUB? WHERE ARE ALL HIS CABINET MEMBERS? WHY HIDE? WHY DON'T YOU DEFEND HIM? come on man! no one man can be really good in all things and subjects.... Pak Lah is quite "slow" in economics, i agree, but to blame him alone? i don't think so...

i have long had these questions lingered in my mind... i've tried to answer it myself, but failed miserably. nobody seems to care. nobody seems to be genuinely interested in answering it for me. i dunno, maybe it's just me, or maybe, the truth is too bitter to swallow...
so, i'll post the questions here. it might remain as that, unanswered. but, i sincerely hope it could at least spark something in our mind, to ponder, and reflect, and then decide...

questions for Pakatan Rakyat

if one day, you are chosen as the government of the day, would you really abolish the NEP/DEB ? why?
if one day, you are chosen to power, will you really make everybody equal, no more bumiputera/non-bumiputera? so, if there exist disadvantages on the bumiputera side that make them less able to compete in the cruel Chinese-controlled economy, you won't care? no affirmative actions?
what happens to Uitm? would you open it to non-bumi? concept of equality connotes that quota is unacceptable. so, based on merit per-se, will you allow non-bumi students to outnumber bumi students in Uitm?
will you tolerate dissenting views by way of abolishing all the preventive acts such as ISA, AUKU, permit for media etc? so, if it so happen that one day there are views that incite racial tensions would you just ignore them and recite freedom of speech?
who are the malays in your eyes?

questions for Barisan nasional

if you were to remain in power post 16sept2008, are you going to stop all this fight against corruption? will you sincerely continue to spring-clean your house? or would you be back to your arrogant ways?

1. those in power are struggling to fathom this new Malaysia. some who do, are lost in the rough unforgiving political jungle. there still exist of course, greedy outdated politicians, who thrives forward boosted by Ringgit. they stand triumphant, winning cawangan and bahagian election, cheered by full stomach-ed supporters. and among the debris of their celebration, the poor are left picking crumbs....
2. enter the political masters who are at the dusk of their career, whining, shouting, complaining..Money Politics!! unfair practices!! "RASUAH MEMBARAH DALAM PEMILIHAN UMNO - Syed Hamid Albar", when they themselves, once upon a time , were very much involved in it all...
3. enter Shabery Chik, the self-declared "dragon Slayer". "i think i have done well!"... when in true fact, done well he did - in further tarnishing the party's image. well he did, in brushing away what's left with UMNO.
4. Malaysia is indeed going to change. Malaysia dreams of honest and true leaders. malaysia dreams of a leader who has the people in his heart. a leader who is pro-rakyat! introducing policies and laws that are for the rakyat. a leader who can stand tall in defending the rakyat against anything - greedy business people, dirty political reps, corrupt government servants, UMNO Youth Men who without shame complains the lack of money-making projects for themselves!!!...

we have a big problem. we have a disgusting situation where when layman, you and i, give out money in order to gain something, we would definitely be considered as giving BRIBE.
Yet, when UMNO politician give out money, it's MONEY POLITICS!!

i am trained in language study. i am no linguist, but i know quite a bit about language. each and every word in a language has its own "weight". rhetorically, when you say "i am foolish", the weight is lighter than if you say "i am stupid". when you say "i may go", the probability of you going would be less than when you say " i will go".

so, for those who care, when Najib said that he was sad that MONEY POLITICS is very much alive in UMNO, did he really mean it? why still call it money politics , when you should start referring it to its true generic name,BRIBERY?. why?
or are UMNOians really don't care?

please take note on DS Ong Ka Ting's statement in NST a few days ago, regarding PAS-UMNO talks mooted by Pak Lah... He was on record saying that MCA "disagree but won't oppose" the muzakarah. so, Melayu-melayu semua, take note, read deeper than the surface....

The sidelined Sabah Part 2

Sabah, with tens of ethnics and subethnics, yet they share one common
feeling - disillusion
once upon a time, UMNO expanded its wings to Sabah, under grand tempting
offerings. Peninsular UMNO politicians promised the moon and the sky.
sabah will never again be the same!. no more hard core poor.
no more manipulation by the select few rich Sabah politicians.
dozens of visits and consultations made, in order to ensure smooth
transfer of power balance particularly due to the conversion of USNO members
to UMNO.
alas, after more than a decade, what happens to all the promises??

i once drove from Sandakan to Kota Kinabalu, all 400++ kms. and what did i see??
ladies and gentlemen,

gravel stretches still exist in Sabah.
potholes ( a dangerously wide potholes) scattered along the route, at the edges of ravines
Sabahans use old battered 4wds and vans as their main public transportation
small towns look like Peninsular's small towns 20-30 years ago, with wooden shophouses lining both sides of the road
some rakyat still live in huts, on stilt, don't believe me? go spend a day in Kinabatangan, Tawau, ranau, even Kundasang( barely 2 hours from KK)
KK is so developed, with all the modern trappings... but really, who benefit the most?? the kadazan? the Sungai? the Dusun? i don't think so...

the sidelined Sabah

Some people might be left wondering, why, after so long being considered as the most quiet of all, the Sabahan ( read- Sabah politician) suddenly screamed attention. one might wonder why now? why when UMNO-BN coalition is facing the most serious challenge of all time...
are they playing poker? are they genuinely fighting for what's due for them? or are they merely seeking more personal gain?
let me tell you one thing, the politicians may have some personal agenda on their sleeves, but their cries are VALID.
in my line of duty, i had to travel, a lot.. recently, i was instructed to go to sabah and carry a research in schools there. here are some of my findings..

Schools located only 20 minutes from Kota Kinabalu, physically, they are in deplorable conditions. one school which is only 5minutes from Nexus Karambunai ( where politicians love to hang out) consists of 2 blocks of wooden buildings. the headmaster cries insufficient fund to run the school.
one school not far from the first school is also operating from wooden building. the teachers' room is a stuffy 20X20 room, with teachers sharing table amongst them. dogs run freely in the school compound, with the fence falls unrepaired.
When i was in Sabah, i was fortunate to be given help by the Pejabat Pelajaran Gabungan to move around. we traveled to the schools by an old toyota 4wd. the driver confided to me that the 4wd was in a such trashy condition, that they had to change the seat cover by themselves so as not to embarrass the Jabatan.
remember - the schools are all in the capital city!!

i spent 5 days in Kota Kinabalu, yet i could feel the vibration...the Sabahans have long feel neglected. they are fed-up with federal. federal politicians treat sabah as a spring board to higher positions in the party, but that's about all. yong teck lee was correct in saying that the momentum should be retained.... Sabah - enter the dragon slayer!!!

There was never mentioned, in any written text, nor in any oral tradition version, when Hang Tuah was actually circumcised ( a compulsary practise for Muslim Man)

There was never mentioned in "Risalah Hiburan Melaka", a gossip magazine of 1400-1511, about any romance / scandalous affair of Hang Tuah
hang Tuah managed to grab the famous keris of Taming Sari by chance. Tamingsari was in total shock when he gripped Tuah from behind, and discovered that Tuah has a pair of very soft flesh with two slightly oversized nipple ( for a man ), thus Tuah, sensing his cover was about to be exposed, quickly grabbed the kris and stabbed Tamingsari
Tuah killed Jebat because Jebat accidentally cut Tuah's belt, thus exposing his underwear. seeing that Tuah actually didn't have penis, Jebat laughed madly. Tuah took the chance and killed his friend.
When Tuah kidnapped Tun Teja from terengganu, they spent months sharing a small cabin of a tongkang on their way back to Melaka. why wasn't Teja Pregnant? Tuah was never known to be religious...
towards the end of his glory days, Tuah mysteriously disappeared. legend has it that he went to Mecca in apparition. the legend was untrue. he ran away because if he were to die in Melaka, the Imam would know....
his real name is DANG BUAH

too much politics had entered my sacred blog, and now i want to put a stop to it. i once got acquainted with a tabligh guy who said;"politics make you excited without reason"...
how true!!! imagine, we are in a middle of one of the worst economic tsunami and yet here you are, finding fault with people! duh!!

First thing we can do is to choose a car with a lower cc. The obvious example is the cute little Perodua Kancil. But if you find it a teeny weenie bit too small, then any engine below 2 liters should be fine.
On the other spectrum, any cc above 2.5 liters will just suck in fuel like water. This is not counting the higher road tax yet. So if you do buy those big cc cars, don't complain about high fuel costs. You know what you are getting into. Style, if you have not realized it yet, often cost a lot of money. A lot.

Service the car regularly
Make it a point to send the car for service regularly. While you may think it is expensive, it is actually cheaper to do so in the long run. Firstly, your car will burn less fuel. A badly tuned engine will burn more fuel than one that is well maintained. This will cost you money. Next, you reduce the chances of the car breaking down while driving. I don't know about you but the thought of the car breaking down in the middle of the night in a dark deserted road just about kills me. Thirdly, you also reduce the chances of being involved in an accident due to poor maintenance.
And if you still think servicing the car is still expensive, try having an accident.

Drive slower
You will also reduce the fuel burn by driving slower. If you are used to driving at 110 km/hr, you will save some 20 percent of fuel just by slowing down to 80 km/hr. That means the fuel will last longer and you will refill less often. End result - you save money.

Do not carry unnecessary cargo
Obviously, the heavier the car, the more fuel will be needed to move the car. Carrying unnecessary cargo therefore will just cost you money. So, remove all items that do not belong in the car and keep them where it does not cost you money. The store room should be about right.

Ensure correct wheel pressure
Under inflated tyres can increase the fuel consumption by 10 percent or more. They also wear out more quickly and are more dangerous in emergency situations. So always ensure that your tyres are having the correct pressure by checking them weekly.

Always check the map before driving to a new destination
Always, always check the map before driving to any new destination or any place that you are unsure of. What you want to do is to get to your destination the most straight forward way, if not the quickest. This way, you avoid getting lost and driving around in circles. Because if you do get lost, driving around town in circles will just cost you money. Not to mention of the irritation and rising temperatures.

Car pool
Car pooling will not reduce your fuel bill directly. But it will more than subsidize the cost. If you take in more than one passenger, you may even make money in the process! This is not counting the fun of having company to entertain you yet.

Use the public transport
And finally, to save even more, you can always take the public transport. Especially when going to a spot well known for traffic jams - Jalan Sultan Ismail for example - take the LRT instead. You'll arrive there faster, fresher and less hassled. Way to go, kiddo.

finally,
the much anticipated oil-price increase has arrived.
arrive it did, in style...
i was left awed, by the sheer suddenness of it. and the quantum!!
ohmigawd!!! 78 cents, that's 41% increase to fuel price, thus 41% in almost everything under Malaysian sun....
to make matters worse, i'm about to take delivery of a new car, booked in february!
what am i suppose to do now? cancel booking? beg the car company to give a 41% discount?

well, immediate response, i now ride a bike to work!
a kapcai!!
all 120km of it to and fro...

so, said the ministers, change your lifestyle!!!
(AS IF THEY WOULDN'T MIND RIDING A BIKE TO PUTRAJAYA!!!)
